A. FACULTY OF ARTS, MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

1. DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  • English Language and Mathematics at the “O” level/SSCE are passed with five credits.
  • Bachelor’s degrees in accounting or closely related fields from reputable universities, not less than Third Class Division.
  • In areas unrelated to administration (such as accounting), bachelor’s degrees with at least a second class lower division may be taken into consideration.
  • Higher National Diploma, or HND.
  • professions with the necessary credentials.

  • A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters are required.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Accounting

  • First Degree in Accounting or a related field from a reputable university, preferably with a Second Class Lower division.

2. DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Economics

  • English and mathematics at the ‘O’ level or SSCE must be passed with five credits.
  • a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with at least a third-class honors.
  • HND and/or professional qualifications cognate to Economics from a recognized institution.

Duration of PGD Economics programme

  • A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics

  • A minimum 2nd Class lower bachelor’s degree in economics from an accredited university is required.
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) from a university that is reputable.

Duration of Programme (M.Sc. Economics)

  • Minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics

  • a minimum of a 2nd Class Lower bachelor’s degree in economics from an accredited university.
  • CGPA of at least 4.0 on a 5.0-point scale or a B grade (60%) for an Economics Master’s (M.Sc.) degree.

Duration of PhD Economics Programme

  • A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

Masters of Art (M.A.) Programme

  • At the ‘O’ Level, five credits are required, including math, English, history, and government.
  • a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History, History and International Studies, History and Diplomatic Studies, History and International Relations, or History and Strategic Studies, or a closely related field, with at least a Second Class Lower Division qualification.

  • A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme

  • Master’s degree in History or its variants from a recognized university, with a B grade (60%) or a CGPA not below 3.5 on a five-point scale.

Duration of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme

  • A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

4. DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Political Science Master of Science (M.Sc.

  • a Bachelor’s degree in political science or a closely related field with at least a Second Class Lower Division. Candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited university will also be taken into consideration.

Duration of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Political Science Programme

  • A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters maximum.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science

  • Master’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration and other related subject areas from Edo University Iyamho or other recognized Universities with at least 60% or Master’s degree with a CGPA of at least 3.50 on a 5.0 scale.

Duration of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science Programme

  • Minimum duration of six (6) Semesters minimum and ten (10) semesters maximum.

B. FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES

1. DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY

Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry

  • B.Sc. in Biochemistry with at least a Second Class Lower grade, or any acceptable substitute.
  • with five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at no more than two sittings on the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) exam.

Duration of Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry Programme

  • A minimum of three (3) semesters (18 months) and a maximum of six (6) semesters (36 months).

Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry (PhD Biochemistry)

  • M.Sc. Biochemistry with a minimum average of 60% in the Master’s programme.

Duration of Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry (PhD Biochemistry) programme

  • A minimum of six (6) semesters (36 months) and a maximum of ten (10) semesters (60 months)

C. FACULTY OF SCIENCE

1. DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science

  • At the ‘O’ Level, you must have earned five Credit Passes, including English, Mathematics, and two additional pertinent science subjects.
  • the equivalent of a third-class honours degree from an accredited university
  • Greater National Diploma (HND)
  • Professional credentials like CPN CPE, ACCA, ICCA, ICAN, AIB, or other recognized equivalent qualifications with relevant industrial experience.

Duration of PGD Computer Science Programme

  • A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science

  • English, mathematics, and two other pertinent science subjects at the ‘O’ Level are required to pass with five credits.
  • a strong first degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, information technology, software engineering, or data science/management from Edo State University, Uzairue, or any other recognized university with at least a Second Class (Lower Division) in those fields.
  • Admission requirements include having at least a Second Class (Lower Division) degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or B.Sc. (Ed.) computer science. Those who meet these requirements will also be required to take and pass a few relevant undergraduate courses to make up for any preparation gaps.
  • Ph.D. in computer science.

Duration of M.Sc. in Computer Science Programme

  • A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Computer Science

  • This is a research-based Programme for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months. To be eligible for admission, a candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science

  • Five credits in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and GCE at Ordinary Level.
  • Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Computer Science with a weighted average of 60% or a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale.

Duration of PhD in Computer Science Programme

  • A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

2. DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme in Microbiology

  • the highest undergraduate degree in microbiology or a closely related field offered by Edo University Iyamho or any other recognized university, not less than third-class honours.
  • Microbiology and related disciplines Higher National Diploma
  • At the ‘O’ Level, you need to have five credit passes in English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics.

Duration of PGD in Microbiology Programme:

  • A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.

Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme in Microbiology

  • Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Agricultural Biology, Biology, and Botany at least at the Second Class Lower Division level.
  • English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics all received five credit passes at the ‘O’ Level.

Duration of M.Sc. in Microbiology Programme

  • A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in Microbiology

  • A minimum CGPA of 3.5, or 60%, or an average grade, along with an M.Sc. in microbiology.
  • Five credits are earned at the ‘O’ Level, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Duration of PhD in Microbiology the Programme

  • Six (6) semesters is the minimum requirement, and ten (10) semesters is the maximum.
  • Environmental microbiology, medical microbiology, food microbiology, and industrial microbiology are some of the areas of specialization.
