How to Do NYSC Monthly Clearance

Have you just left the orientation camp as a newly mobilized member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)? Are you familiar with the NYSC monthly clearance process?

If you’re not sure, worry less because we’ve got you covered. As a serving corps member, monthly clearance is an essential part of your NYSC service year. It verifies that you are an active participant in the program.

On this page, we will provide you with a comprehensive overview of NYSC monthly clearance, processes, and requirements as well as provide answers to some important questions corp members might wish to ask.

NYSC LGA clearance

The NYSC Monthly clearance process serves as a  confirmation that a corps member has fulfilled the required duration of service for a specific month at their assigned Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
This is seen as a requirement for receiving an allowance from the federal government, it is also a process that enables you to obtain clearance from the Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) and the Local Government Area (LGA) to confirm that you are properly registered.

The NYSC LGA clearance takes place at the Local Government Secretariat, where you are been cleared by the Local Inspector (LI).

However, the dates set aside for this exercise vary in different LGAs. Some clearance days might be split into different batches and streams depending on the number of corp members available at the Community Development Service (CDS).

How to Check NYSC Monthly Clearance on the Portal

Corp members are advised to follow the steps written below to check their monthly clearance:

1. Visit the NYSC portal at

2. Log in to your dashboard using your email and password.

3. Click on “LGA Clearance.”

4. You will find a table indicating whether you are “Absent” or “Present” for the current and past months.

5. To see your full attendance history, you can increase the list from 10 to 20.

Your portal automatically records the thumbprint. Network problems can occur occasionally which causes delay.

In a situation like this, you have no other option than to wait a few minutes and check again, or your state code is retrieved, and your profile can be downloaded.

By following these steps and staying informed, you can complete your NYSC monthly clearance and ensure you receive your stipend promptly each month.

You can choose to either print the schedule or save it in PDF format on your mobile phone. It is often more convenient to save it as a PDF.

How to Access Your NYSC Dashboard

NYSC Corps Members Allowance

NYSC pays corps members a monthly allowance of 33,000 naira throughout their one-year service. The allowance is typically disbursed either in the last week of the month or the first week of the following month.

In the segment below, answers to some recently asked questions will be provided for proper clarification and verification. Continue reading for more insights.

Can I Do NYSC Clearance Without a PPA?

Without a PPA, it is indeed feasible to complete your clearance. Your situation, including whether you were rejected, reposted, or redeployed, must be communicated to the Local Government Inspector (LGI).

Also, a rejection letter will be required as evidence if you have been dismissed from your PPA.

Why Does My NYSC Dashboard Show “Absent”?

If your NYSC dashboard displays “Absent,” it means you were not present on your LGA Monthly Clearance date.

But occasionally, network latency or equipment problems could be to blame for this. Notify the LGI right away if you think this is the case. You might not get your monthly stipend if you fail to do so.

If corps members were present but not paid at the end of the month, they are advised to draft a letter to the LGI using the state coordinator’s and secretariat’s letterhead.

Make sure your initials and bank information are on the letter. Thank you for reading.
