The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship, established in 2000 by Orascom Construction, is a private scholarship program open for students in Egypt to study at selected US universities. The scholarship program aims to build and promote the academics and character of young Egyptian students by allowing them to advance in their careers and impact their local community, thereby boosting the Egyptian economic system.

The 2023 Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is currently open for Young Egyptian students. Onsi Sawiris Scholarship application form is now available online via www.onsisawirisscholarship.org and registration will commence by July, 2023. The closing date for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is scheduled to July 31st, 2023.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is a fully-funded merit-based scholarship awarded based on needs and character as shown by the academic records, entrepreneurial excellence, and extracurricular activities that cover your tuition in full, health insurance, accommodation, travel, and living allowances.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship covers undergraduates and Masters’ education, and preference will be given to young applicants who have not studied, lived, or worked abroad for a significant time.

However, the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is restricted to disciplines that include Economics, Finance, Engineering, Political science, and Management. only also, they are limited to only four universities in the United States, and they are:

  •       Harvard University
  •       University of Chicago
  •       Stanford University
  •       University of Pennsylvania

Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program Coverage

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship that covers your full tuition, travel expenses, health insurance, and living allowance.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program?

To be eligible for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program, you must fulfill the below requirement.

Undergraduates:

  • You must be an Egyptian who are resident of Egypt (preference will not be given to applicants with dual citizenship)
  • You must be ready to return to Egypt and stay for a compulsory two years upon graduation from undergraduate.
  • You have not lived for three years in abroad.
  • You must have a GPA of 3.5 or 90% GPA or an equivalent Thanaweyya Amma certificate.
  • You must have an iBT TOEFL with a minimum score of 100
  • You must have a minimum SAT I Evidence-Based Reading score of 1450 and a 730 math in the writing section.
  • You must be engaged in some Extracurricular Activities.

Masters

  • You must be an Egyptian who is resident in Egypt. (No preference will be shown for applicants with dual citizenship)
  • You must intend to pursue your master’s degree at selected top universities in the United States in the area of Engineering, Business Administration, or construction management.
  • You munt have lived abroad for over three years.
  • Be committed to returning to Egypt for a mandatory two years upon graduation.
  • You must have a TOEFL iBT minimum score of 100
  • You must have a 3.5 GPA.
  • You must have a minimum of three years of working experience.
  • For MBA, the required GMAT score is 650. It should be taken within five years during the time of application.
  • You must have been actively involved in extracurricular activities or is presently involved in them.
  • New GRE scores of a minimum of 4.5 for analytical writing and an overall of 302.

Take NOTE that for the Master’s application:

  • Applicants with one Master’s degree from a foreign university or who have an Egyptian university accredited Master’s degree for the same field they are applying to won’t be considered. If you have a Master’s degree from an Egyptian university in a technical course, you can apply to study Masters for a different course. In this case, you will be considered.
  • Please understand that being selected as a nominee for the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program does not guarantee a scholarship. As a nominee, the program will guide you in the application process. The scholarship is only guaranteed once the university grants you acceptance.  
  • The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program only grants scholarships to the four approved universities. So you must gain admission into any of them to qualify for the scholarship.

Undergraduates Scholarships

  • Academic transcripts

  • A copy of the Thanaweyya Amma certificate or your graduation certificate
  • Two recommendation letters
  • A copy of the standardized test scores (SAT I / or SAT II) and IBT TOEFL

Masters Scholarships

  • Resume.
  • A copy of Academic transcripts.
  • A copy of your undergraduate certificate.
  • A copy of test scores (TOEFL – iBT / GRE or GMAT).
  • Two recommendation letters.

For UNDERGRADUATES:

Go to the Amideast website via https://apply.amideast.org/orascom_UG/default.aspx and create an account. 

Input all your personal details. Ensure they are all correct.

Input your educational details.

There are two questions on the Statement of Purpose; you need to select one and answer. They are:

  •   Question 1: Considering personal, local, and national concerns as these relate to your future, how would you be able to achieve success on these different levels by attending the university that you wish to apply for? Write a 500-word essay to discuss. Please remember that the essay is an essential part of your application.
  •         Question 2: What are you passionate about? How have you pursued your passions throughout your life? Your essay should be 350 typed words. Please remember that the essay is an essential part of your application.

For MASTERS:

Create an application form through the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Graduate application.

Upload all the required documents.
