About UNIBEN JUPEB Programme

The University of Benin’s Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Program assists students in earning a certificate that paves the way for Direct Entry Admission into the 200-level degrees offered by the University and other institutions affiliated with JUPEB in Nigeria and abroad. The Advanced Level GCE, the Old Higher School Certificate (HSC), or the IJMB are all recognized as being equivalent to this diploma.

Each student will begin an intense academic schedule consisting of three subject combinations relevant to their preferred field of study as soon as they are accepted into the program. Four courses, with the numbers 001, 002, 003, and 004, are created from these subjects. A total of twelve courses will be completed by each student by the end of the program, which involves six courses per semester.

In addition, students must take at least two general studies courses (one per semester). At the end of each semester, exams are given for each course. However, a letter grade (i.e., A, B, C, D, E, & F) will be assigned to each subject based on the overall results of all courses at the end of the second semester. The general studies courses chosen will be in line with those that are pertinent to the student’s field of study.

Each student must satisfy all admission requirements established by the departments and faculties of their chosen field in addition to passing the required JUPEB examination for obtaining the Direct Entry Certificates in order to be admitted to the University of Benin or any other institution affiliated with JUPEB.
