Good O’level Results
One of the most important paths to gaining admission to any Nigerian University is Passing the WAEC or NECO examination. In fact, you must pass SSCE if you want to smell the four walls of the university, that’s a fact. Every university in Nigeria requires candidates to have at least five (5) credits in relevant subjects.
For instance, to study linguistics at any Nigerian University. You must have at least credits in the following subjects;
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Literature and other relevant subjects

O’level Result Combination
You are allowed to combine two O’level results for admission in Nigeria. You can either use two sittings of WAEC or NECO or combine WAEC and NECO results.
However, for some programs like Medicine and Surgery, the combination of O’level results is not allowed. You are only allowed to use one sitting of either NECO or WAEC.

The general cut-off mark for JAMB is 180, try as much as you can to attain this score and more. The Post-UTME examination poses a big challenge for most prospective students. Some universities in Nigeria have waived the post-UTME examinations and some have not. Alternative Ways to Gain Admission into the University
Pre-Degree Program
Enrolling in a pre-degree program is one of the easiest ways to gain admission into the University. It is called a remedial program. The pre-degree program usually runs for one academic session which is one year.
Students enrolled in this program would learn basic subjects. For example, science students learn:-

Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)
The JUPEB is an A’level program. You can use the result from this program to gain admission into the second year via direct entry. The program runs for a duration of one year after which you can use the result to gain admission into the university.
You are required to have a high score in order to use the result from this program to gain admission into the university.
Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB)
The IJMB program is similar to the JUPEB program. At the end of the program, successful candidates are given admission into the second year at the university.
