The Nigerian landscape is humming with yet another opportunity for young brains to display their prowess. The Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition, which is sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), is back to highlight the voices of young Nigerians who are considering their country’s capacities and the future of the oil and gas industry.
NCDMB Essay Competition Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
- N1,000,000 for 1st place,
- N500,000 for 2nd place,
- N300,000 for 3rd and
- 4th – 10th places finishers shall each receive a laptop.
NCDMB Essay Competition Rules
- Only students in Nigeria’s public and private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education who are in the 100–200 level are eligible to enter this contest.
- Before August 28, 2024, www.ncdmbessay.ng must receive completed manuscripts and any supporting materials. Late submissions won’t be taken into consideration.
- There will be no acceptance of submissions in hardcopy. (first sign up on the website).
- A letter of admission or a letter of attestation from the applicant’s head of department (HOD), both of which must be signed, must be submitted by the applicant.
- Every essay ought to be an original piece created especially for the competition.
- It is forbidden to co-author an essay.
- Only one entry per participant is allowed.
- There is a 1,500-word limit on manuscripts.
- When submitting an essay while logged in, each participant’s most recent contact information, including their phone number and email address, must be included with the manuscript.
- The manuscript, or the essay’s content, may not include the name of the entrants.
- On or before September 11th, 2024, shortlisted applicants will be contacted to schedule the third and final interactive assessment.
- First place will receive N1,000,000 in prizes, second place will receive N700,000, and third place will receive N500,000.
- A laptop will be given to each of the top 10 national finalists.
- Essays will be evaluated for clarity of expression, proper grammar and spelling, originality of idea, depth of analysis, industry relevance, and compliance with contest rules.
- To determine originality, all writings will be checked for plagiarism using the software.
- The award/prize ceremony will take place on September 20, 2024.
- The winning article will be featured in Local Content Digest, the NCDMB’s internal publication.
How to Submit Entry for NCDMB Essay Competition
- Enter your information and register at https://ncdmbessay.com/.
- Log in using your email address or username and password.
- Then click on the Submit Essay button at the top menu,
- After entering all the required data, paste the essay’s content into the form.
- Only one entry per participant is allowed.
Completed submissions and all supporting materials must be submitted by AUGUST 28th 2024, at the latest. Late manuscripts won’t be taken into consideration. Submissions in hard copy will not be accepted.
