Admission Requirements OOU Postgraduate Programmes

a. Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

The following qualifications are necessary for entrance to the Postgraduate Diploma Program:

  • A Third Class or higher degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another recognized university.
  • Those who have earned a Higher National Diploma with a minimum score of Lower Credit.

b. Academic Master Degree Programmes
(i) M.A/M.Sc./M.Ed., LL.M
The minimum academic requirement for applicants is often a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any recognized university in the relevant fields.

c. Professional Master Degree Programmes
Applicants must typically hold a degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another accredited university, a Higher National Diploma at least at the Lower Credit level, a Third Class University Degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field(s), and/or fellowship from the relevant professional body.

d. Ph.D. Programs

  • Candidates who received their Master’s degree in a relevant field from Olabisi Onabanjo University with at least 3.50 cumulative grade points are eligible to enroll for Ph.D. programs directly.
  • Candidates from Olabisi Onabanjo University will only be admitted for M.Phil/Ph.D. programs rather than Ph.D. programs directly if they have cumulative grade point averages between 3.00 and 3.49. However, the evaluation of their candidacy for the Ph.D. will be based on their performance in the last two (2) semesters of coursework.
  • Only candidates having a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a scale of 1 to 5 or a weighted average of 50% and a master’s degree in a relevant field from institutions other than Olabisi Onabanjo University will be accepted for M.Phil./Ph.D. programs. However, their viability for a Ph.D. will be based on how well they performed in their last two (2) semesters of coursework.

e. Candidates applying for the following programs are to note their admission requirements:

1. M.Sc. Mass Communication

  • O’ Level Credit pass in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all applicants for Mass Communication Programmes.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Law

  • Candidates who hold a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another recognized institution with at least a third-class standing. In addition to English Language and English Literature, candidates must have at least five O’ Level credit passes.

3. Master of Law (LL.M.)

  • Holders with a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university recognized by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Senate with a minimum of Second Class Lower
  • Holders of the Postgraduate Diploma in Law degree who do not meet the requirements in (a) above but hold a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

4. Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthesia

  • A good first degree in medicine or surgery from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another university that has been accepted by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Senate.

5. Master of Public Health (MPH)

  • M.B.Ch.B. or MBS/BDS equivalents from other reputable universities are accepted as proof of graduation from Olabisi Onabanjo University. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of qualification experience, which must include an internship, NYSC service, and three years of professional work in fields related to public health.

6. M.Sc. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology

  • Those who hold a good first degree in pharmacy (classified) from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another institution that has been accepted by the university’s senate.
  • You can be admitted if you have a categorized pharmacy degree with at least a CGPA of 3.0 and at least Second Class Honours (Lower Division).
  • Candidates must have earned passing results in their final year undergraduate exams in pharmaceutics, which cannot be lower than a C.

How to Apply for OOU Postgraduate Admission

Please follow the steps below to apply for OOU PG admission for the 2024/2025 academic year;

1. Visit pgs.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng/

2. Fill out the necessary information in the new application section, including the program you want to apply for.(Be sure to provide a working phone number and email address; this information will be used to track your application.)

3. Immediately following the completion of the form, a one-time authentication code would be issued to the specified mail address.

4. To verify your information, type the authentication code in the box that is available.

5. The payment method that best fits you can be chosen from your dashboard. (Payment by POS or Web)

6. Use the telephone number you supplied while filling out the initial form as your MATRIC/REGISTRATION Number when making payments via POS. (Your payment will be acknowledged in the next two hours.)

7. Once the payment has been received successfully, make sure the form is filled out correctly (click on Fill Biodata Form to do this).

8. Following Step 7 above, a Form Number would be generated for you and then emailed to your email address.

9. Following that, you will be taken to a page where you must modify your password. Note: Your first password is your SURNAME.

10. Fill out your application form’s biodata details from your dashboard and submit them, making sure to include all necessary information.

11. Before submitting, be sure to check the box on the confirmation page for your biodata because if you don’t, the form will remain open.

12. The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Olabiyi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and the Head of the Department where the tour program is based should then get a copy of the application acknowledgment slip along with a copy of each of your credentials.
